Qualifications:
University degree in a related area or equivalent education and experience. Strong knowledge of cooperatives and issues facing the co-operative sector. Familiarity with Manitoba, regional and national co-op partners. Understanding of Community Economic Development and its linkage with co-op development. Experience in policy and program development, implementation and evaluation. Requires strong written and oral communications and presentation skills. Knowledge of government an asset.

Willing to consider joint job share application for this full time position.

Duties:
As part of our Growing Opportunities initiative, Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives is implementing new initiatives to work with rural Manitobans in capturing opportunities which support a vibrant and sustainable future. We are seeking a progressive and enthusiastic individual and proven leader to join our team in being a key participant in providing comprehensive services to the rural community, the agri-food sector and farm clientele.

The incumbent is responsible for providing a leadership role within government in developing, implementing and evaluating policies and programs to promote the growth of the co-op sector in order to meet local economic development and service needs. Works with sectoral leaders and associations to enhance their ability to directly support the growth of the sector. Promotes the co-op model and provides information and support to new co-op development. Deals with urban and rural, economic and social elements of co-op development. Provides training, coaching and mentoring support to cooperative developers and other professionals. Provides Secretariat support to two government Boards supporting the sector.
