The fuel cell (FC) is thought to be one of the best solutions if it is developed to satisfactry economical levels. To reach swiftly such solutions, it is required to accelerate the FC development on a global scale. This necessitates swift and worldwide propagation of information on newly developed FC technologies. In this circumstance, we will contribute to promotion of swift and worldwide spread of such information though our ability is limited.

TOTO Unveiled New Residential SOFC Cogeneration System

TOTO Ltd. unveiled a 1 kW residential SOFC cogeneration system having a remarkably reduced price.
The price is 1,000,000 yen (x 1/about 100 = USD)/kW.
If a subsidy from the government is applied to the product, it is guessed that the TOTO's SOFC cogeneration system is sufficiently marketable.
In Japan, mass production of the residential FC cogeneration systems, several tens thousands units a year, will start from 2010. Those fuel cells are all of the PEFC type. It is noted that this TOTO's fuel cell is of the SOFC type.
It is said that SOFC is more advanced than PEFC.
The stock (share) price of TOTO rose in the Tokyo stock market.
