They have called on American architect Peter Eisenman to restore and connect the train station in ancient Pompeii to that in modern Pompeii, which are on separate rail lines and a 20-minute walk from each other.
"We want to create a route from one station to the next with plazas, shops," Eisenman said in an interview from his office in New York. "I want to create a station that is a social attracter."
