This year again with 56 excellent wines Piedmont managed to defeat Tuscany (54). Friuli Venezia Giulia on rank three with 33 wines followed by Alto Adige and Veneto with 20 and Sicily with 18. On the other ranks Marche (17), Lombardy (13), Umbria (11), Campania (9) and Abruzzo (8). Lazio, Emilia Romagna and Sardinia each have 6 excellent wines, Trentino and Puglia 4, followed by Liguria, Calabria, Basilicata, Molise and Val d'Aosta.
