As far as we're (globally) concerned, the mess goes on

Should we reasonnably expect that government and public scrutiny will provide enough transparence, accountability, ensure proper execution and clearance, in what is likely to be for those tempted (individuals and corporations), a chance to participate in a kind of casino capitalism at a sponsored cost? If the mess continues and the global system deteriorates, what mechanisms are in place to prevent large troubled institutions to mess up their collapse and initiate a cascading defaults momentum that will blow up in an unprecedented apocalypse?
We all remember that the decisive push that jumpstarted his chances to win again McCain was precisely... the World financial crisis.
The question know is, shall it also be his dismal and plunge him (alongside a necessary and ambitious agenda or program, name it what you like) to the abysses?
Or formulated otherwise, could he (without this grassroot support) eventually handle what is starting to be perceived as a titanic combat with (hidden) conservative forces, teamed up with (overtly powerful and dubious) liberal democrats?
