The wine tradition on the territory of modern day Portugal goes back thousands of years to the times of the Greeks and the Romans. Today, Portugal is the tenth largest exporter of wine in the world. This small land has an amazingly variegated soil and climate conditions from its fertile North to its dry South and the islands, which means that it also has a great diversity of wines.
