Bird watching is a growing niche in the Algarve’s tourism industry, with more and more foreign tourists visiting the region each year to observe its natural fauna.

Speaking to Lusa News Agency during the second Bird Watching Festival, held in Sagres earlier this month, Anabela Santos, from the Regional Environmental Association Almargem, said that the activity has a bright and international future in the region.
Swedish, Belgian, German, Dutch and Spanish visitors as well as tourists from Canada and the US made a significant presence at the festival in Sagres.
