It is believed that within 12 months the Algarve region of southern Portugal will become an established destination for Bird watchers.
A campaign has been launched by the tourism Board who recently organized a bird watching press trip which included watching birds (The feathered variety) in the Sapal Nature Reserve near Castro Marim and the Vila Real de Santo António, This trip also included a presentation of the planned new observatory in Tavira's Natural Park.
A study into bird life and bird-watching on the Algarve was commissioned by interested bodies including the Portuguese Society for Bird Studies. It identified Five areas of particular interest for bird watching within the Algarve, they were .......
