In April this year, two Scarlet Ibis couples successfully hatched two chicks each. Now, just a few months later, Lagos Zoo has announced that two couples are once again incubating eggs.

It is a rare occurrence for these birds to reproduce more than once each year.
According to a statement from Lagos Zoo: "We don't have any secret for this success. We just give them the best care, from their habitat to their food. Our Algarve climate also helps these birds to feel as though they were in their natural habitat."
