one-day walleye fishing derby will be held on Aug. 10 in Point Edward.
"Walleye have been great fishing in Sarnia," said derby organizer and Bluewater Anglers vice-president John Klazinga.
The majority of the walleye being caught are coming from Lake Huron and the St. Clair River near the club's fish hatchery at the Blue Water Bridge.
Fish caught from a boat or the shore are eligible.
The derby begins at 8 p.m. and the biggest fish will win a $500 top prize for the angler who lands it before the derby ends at 11 a.m. on Aug. 11. The weigh-in will be at the club's hatchery.
The top 10 fish will get a share of the $1,450 in prize money.
The derby is open to everyone as the club is trying to promote fishing in this area, said Klazinga.
There is $10 entry fee that can be paid at Bucks Bait or Sarnia RV and Marine.
Sarnia RV and the Village of Point Edward are the derby sponsors.
