The 2007 Greenback Walleye Classic is slated for Sunday, Sept. 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. The event will be run out of Selkirk Park on the Red River.
Anglers must obey all provincial regulations. This is a live release tournament. All entrants must launch at the park and may not begin fishing until 8 a.m. Entry fee is $20 for adults and $10 for youths under 16 and seniors over 65. Entry deadline is Saturday, Sept. 21 at midnight. Contact derby director Dan Sernyk by e-mail at anglerdan@mts.net.
Word has it that the greenbacks are already being caught at the mouth of the river by Netley Creek. With some cool weather by next week, the run could be in full swing. Anglers have a chance to catch some real hawgs in the weeks to come.
