Born and raised in Winnipeg, I have Scottish, Irish, and English heritage on my Mom's side and Czech on my Dad's side. My maternal Nana and Papa had me in the boat fishing with them when I was only a couple of months old (I'm pretty sure I just watched) and took me fishing every summer for most of my life. My Grandparents are from Onanole so I did most of my fishing with them in Clear Lake and Lake Audy in Riding Mountain National Park. They also took me camping and fishing to Reed Lake. Over the years I have fished from the shore at Lockport many times, the Assiniboine River in Brandon (caught a couple of monster Channel Cats there), rented boats at different locations, borrowed my brother's boat, fished many times at Lake Audy with my Aunty Jo (Master Caster) and my Uncle Ken, fished Clear Lake with my Uncle Jim and Aunt June, and did whatever I could to drop a line. Finally, at the 2006 Boat Show, we bought the Lund Classic 1660. This summer/fall season has truly been a "dream season." I have caught two Master Angler jacks, unlimited amounts of pickeral, and was finally able to get out to LOTW to fish for musky under the tutelage of my cousin, musky guru, Lance Denoon. I have been waiting for this initiation into musky culture since catching the Manitoba Record Musky in 1985 (see "Favorite Fishing Experience"). Now the addiction has taken hold of me and words like cisco, ambassador, bucktail, and "raised a few," have become part of my vocabulary. Fortunately Pam is addicted to fishing so we get out whenever we have a chance. Her passion is fishing for pickeral so we alternate fishing for pickeral and fishing for esox. Anyway, that's about it in a nutshell, essential fishing information about me.
