LIVERPOOL'S Chibuku Shake Shake returns after the summer hiatus - well, if you can call barnstorming barn parties, electric Masque collaborations with Circus, select parties around the country and of course the best tent at Creamfields a hiatus, the best underground night in the country returns with arguably the best shit booked in yet. Retaining the eclectic vibes that have made the night famous, Chibuku still straddles the wild horses of nocturnal deviance that make it the rough-edged jewel in the clubbing crown of the North West and far beyond, daring to put together lineups that would otherwise fail were it not for the dedication of the promoters and continued resurgency the city is enjoying with a clued-up crowd wanting to have their ears challenged. Adding to the heinous acts coming shortly to Liverpool the Barfly (the Masque name is now totally redundant) itself has had a refurbishment, including much improved air conditioning and even more sound pumped into the Theatre, Loft and Bar, three iconic rooms that have helped shape the underground house-techno-breaks-drum and bass-hiphop-funk-soul-live-soul resistance. Exciting doesn't really do it justice. And add to that a Chibuku and Circus party at Nation on November 12th... Coming up just for starters are: Jazzy Jeff & Mad Skillz, London Elektricity (live) + guests, Soulwax present Niteversions feat: 2manydjs, Soulwax live, Vitalic (live), Justice/Erol Alkan, DJ Marky & Mc Dynamite, Felix Da Housecat, Jeru the Damaja (Live), Dave Clarke, Alan Simms, Optical & Ed Rush, Evil 9, Jamie Lidell (live)... Plus the exciting brace of residents making names for themselves including: The Beat Monkeys, Leo Belchetz, Loz, Dom Chung, Wandy, Phil Charnock and Luke Carr... | ||
