The cottage is 1,800 sq. ft., 5 bedroom (sleeps 12), full kitchen, 4 pc. bathroom (tub, shower, sink, & toilet), dining room, mud room, work room, huge cedar decks that wrap around 3 sides of the cottage. It's secluded in a private forest of 113 acres, just 2 km. from the town of Providence Bay.

On site, there is swimming, canoeing, rock fossils, rock hounding, apple orchard, country gardens (flowers & vegetables), dark sky for star gazing, wildlife (deer, rabbits, birds, etc.), nature trails, fishing, and birding (300 species found on Manitoulin Island).

We are off-the-grid, so we generate our own electricity with wind and solar power, with an auxillary gasoline generator, 4000 watts. This is an opportunity to experience first-hand a 100% green residence.

Manitoulin Island is largest freshwater island in the world (200 km. x 150 km.). Manitoulin Island is situated in Lake Huron, part of the Great Lakes (20% of world's supply of fresh water, 90% of N. America's supply).

Providence Bay has the largest sand beach on Manitoulin (over a kilometer long), hardware store, fine dining, 2 family restaurants, auto mechanic & gas station, motel, grocery store, small boat harbor/boat launch, & docking, nature interpretative centre, and located on the south shore of Manitoulin Island.

Nearby, there is boating, horses, rock climbing, caves, waterfalls, antiques, native pow-wows & dancing, antiques & auctions, and unique pastoral countryside.

During the winter, there is ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snow shoeing.
