Using Biomass for Biodiesel

Biodiesel could be made from any biomass.  Researchers at the University of Wisconsin are developing a process to produce diesel fuel directly from the carbohydrates that make up 70-75% of a plants dry weight. They have developed a reforming process, Aqueous Phase Dehydratiocn/Hydrogenation, to convert cellulosic materials to long-chain hydrocarbons that constitute diesel fuel.
