Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) are similar to regular hybrids (HEVs) except that they are able to run for significant distances in the all-electric mode, like a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Their fuel (gasoline or diesel) economy is in the range of 80-120 mpg.
